Landscape

Catamaran Brook is a third order tributary of the little South Miramichi River. The watershed drains an undulating plateau covered by a second growth forest of predominately coniferous species (Balsam fir, black spruce and red spruce) with the remaining 1/3 composed of deciduous species (red maple, white birch & trembling aspen). The surficial geology is characterized by loamy to sandy loam overtop of Paleiozoic volcanic and sedimentary bedrock. Approximately 30% of the precipitation is snowfall resulting in a rain and snow dominated hydrologic system.
