Landscape

The Lac Laflamme watershed is located 70 km north of Quebec City within the Montmorency Forest. Laflamme lake occupies approximately 9% of the basin area. The forest is dominated by even-aged balsam fir, with a small component of white spruce and white birch. Spruce budworm infestations partially defoliated the stand during the 1976-1984 period. The forest rests on Precambrian gneiss covered by sandy tills, classified as Spodosols or Orthic Humo-Ferric Podzols. Streamflow is influenced by significant groundwater inputs and spring snowmelt.
